Introduction to Liner-less DC Tapes

Tape liners allow adhesives to peel away from their surfaces on pressure sensitive adhesive tapes, If they didn’t, the tape would otherwise be useless as a double sided tape.  The silicon coating on one side allows the adhesive to release with ease while holding the tape on the liner.

With pre-cut double-sided tapes, there are two liners, top and bottom (unlike a single strip of tape on a roll). The top liner makes die cutting easier, as the cutting blades would get coated with glue and inhibit the cutting process. The top liner also aids in applying pressure to the top layer when removed and applied to the work.

However, for the end user the need to remove a small piece of top liner can not only be tiresome, it causes a slow-down in the work-flow and creates a mess of small slippery papers to clean-up, particularly if thousands of pre-cut tapes are being applied and time is of the essence.

Introduction to liner-less tapes.

By adjusting the cutting process and working with specialty blades, it is now possible to efficiently produce pre-cut tapes without a top liner. The worker simply peels and sticks the pieces to the work. Since pressure sensitive adhesive requires pressure to assure a good bond, this step could not be skipped.

The liner-less foam tapes come with a liner cover (otherwise the tapes would stick to carton when shipping). Use the liner cover to apply pressure to the applied tapes.
