The 3M (Scotch) ATG Tape Families

ATG tape system offers a convenient and efficient way to place a strip of tape on materials.

Below we compare the various types of Scotch brand of ATG tapes that it offers, and the differences between ATG part numbers.

Tape: 924

Adhesive Thickness: 2mils

Type: 400 (medium-duty pressure  adhesive)

Provides a clean, permanent bond to lightweight materials

Bonds well to smooth and moderately textured surfaces

Ideal for use on uncoated and coated paper, card stock, flexible plastics, fabrics and more

Tape: 926

Adhesive Thickness: 5 mils

Type: 350 considered a heavy duty, high perfomance adhesive. Good for harder to stick surfaces.

Bonds on contact to a variety of metals, plastics and papers

Ideal for adhering to ABS, acrylic, PP, PE, polycarbonate, polyester (PET), nylon and other plastics

Excellent bond strength with high shear strength and high temperature performance up to 450ºF

Tape: 928

Adhesive thickness: 2 mils

Adhesive Type: 400/1000

use when you want to reposition or remove the adhesive, as in temporary signage. The white color is due to the tape features a tissue carrier, which is needed to coat two different adhesives, and the tissue also ads internal strength to the tape.

Adhesive thickness: 5 mils

Type: 300 High tack for very fast adhesion, particularly on glossy surfaces.

Bonds a wide variety of materials including plastics, glass, paints and materials with glossy surfaces.

Type: 300

A lighter duty version of 969,

ideal for bonding materials with glossy coatings where an aggressive adhesive with high initial adhesion and low profile is desired. It offers very good relative chemical and moisture resistance as well as medium-high UV resistance.
